Progress of the Rosetown Trainstation. All the work are made by Lionel Gazeau (www.theotherlionel.com)
A little History on this Z scale Rosetown Trainstation:
Everything started with the wish to have a bigger Trainstation for my Rosetown City. As you may know Rosetown is a pretty place to live and it's still growing. Because Rosetown is located on the mainline of several railroad companies you have the chance to watch UP, SF and SP Trains all the time. :-)
I've searched the Internet for Mission Style Trainstations and found some pictures from the Modesto Trainstation in California. Then I've asked "my favorit Scratchbuilder" Lionel Gazeau if it is possible to build that Station for me. So the story starts.....

 July 15
I have been working on the railroad in addition to the little houses. The station is going to be roughly 23 x 8 cm including sidewalks and platform. I've been unsuccesful in getting other pictures of the Modesto station so I'm just going to fake the sides?
Anyway, back to work, have a bood weekend.

Hello Jürg
Now don't laugh but this is a pict of the work I've done so far.
The 25 pieces you see all go into making the four towers, it doesn't include the "bell towers", some roofs and a few other details I have to make after they are assembled. Then it's the main entrance in between with the middle arch and windows.
Just to show you the amount of work involved and thinking that perhaps you might want to have a page on your website showing the construction steps.

July 23 Hi Jürg
The next step in the construction to see what the entrance will look like, not glued yet, lots of details to add before that happens but it gives me an idea of what to do next.
The next update will show the same but with more work put into it.

Hi Jürg
I haven't found a suitable hat for the back towers and there are a couple of things to do yet but this will give you a good idea of where we are. Basically it's a station based on the one at Modesto; as I work on it I find new details I should have done differently or that I didn't see at all until it's too late to add them. I think the overall look is pretty nice. The station is going to be a bit wider than I though by several cm.

Hi Jürg
The two picts will show you where I'm at now. I had to cut 20+ arches. I'm pondering my next step.

September 1
Hi Jürg
between painting and plaster work on the house I did more work on the station. The roof is the next challenge.
Have a good weekend, this is a holiday here and I don't plan on going anywhere. Too many tourists and cars on the roads. :-)

Hi Jürg
Well I admit it looks real good so far, the roof is just painted to give me an idea of what it'll look like with red shingles. Next come details, not to mention windows and doors. The back is totally blank but I may have to add a door or two where the sides can be seen, or bushes and landscaping.
You know what they say: you can't hurry Art, whoever Art is. So don't hurry Lionel either, especially when Lionel is rebuilding his house or you'll get the station sooner than later, up your ass. :-)
Actually I was hoping for the same time next year.
(Remark from Jürg: that's after I've stressed him to go one with the Station :-))

Good evening Jürg.
I just got the Merten figures (all 2.316 of them) :>), but no Preiser though.
I worked on the seats you sent me earlier so I can now continue working on it ( I have to mount the seats and some people on the base before I attach the station), they'll also be used under the covered platform addition. I'll keep the rest and use them on your other buildings.
Took me a while to figure out how to do the cornice details on the station, then afterwards I realized I needed about twice as many, good thing I have a good painting crew
Kind regards
Lionel

Hello Jürg
I've had problems with my camera and couldn't send you pictures. I've been working on the station and it looks like you will get it for Xmass !unless I have a heart attack first.
Still to do:
Roof details like the thingies on the two towers (if I can't find anything apporpriate I'll use the same as for the smaller ones), air conditioning and ducts, the roof itself (top caps and chimney).
More details like more of the brown wainscotting all around, an awning on the left.
More details on the platform, these come last, more benches, people, baggage carts and a few little details here and there like telephone booths, etc.
Gotta go, take care.

Hello Jürg
I finally found the correct balls for the back columns, each take about five coats of paint and I still need to do a couple more. I also have to add a few signs (telephone, sp, up,atsf, no parking, etc.) a loaded baggage cart., then some light weathering , touching up and it's done.
There are two micro lights under the left columns, one each under the main entrance and the right columns. I first tried to wire them in series but one of them always seemed to steal the current from the others so they are wired in parrallel instead. Don't use more that a volt or so or you'll burn them out. They cannot be replaced.
Similarly there are two bulbs in the enclosed ares (one on each side) but they have a higher voltage. Same, they can't be replaced although you could drill a hole in the base and insert a bulb through that. The windows are covered so you can't see inside.
Twice I broke the front two of the four white poles sticking up on the right side of the platform (they're in the original) so I have left them unglued and will include them when I ship. I suggest you also leave them unglued. same for the street signs I'm going to do.
I glued the passengers in groups to make it interesting and not have them look like an army on the march. Like the two occupied phone booths with a line of people, there are little stories here and there. Note the shoe-shine you requested. I used a lot of the people you sent me, the rest will go on the covered platform addition which will go on the right.
I'm going to hang on to it for a while longer to take better pictures and see what else I need to do. It looks like I will ship in the middle of next month, I want to do it before the Christmas rush and I know you want to see it "in person". It's been quite a project. A Masterpiece it is.
Thank you for the opportunity to make this model, I swear I'll never ever make another !! :>)
Be good
Lionel

Hi Jürg
Latest pictures. Tomorow is supposed to be sunny so I hope to take more, they have to be done outside.
So hopefully I'll ship Friday but probably will be Monday at the latest. You'll note the finished walls, signs, Rosetown and AT&SF,UP, NP, also added details. I'll make sure it's well packed.
